Birdie "Talks"

In other Bird news, we can report that she's catching on to this whole talking thing. Yesterday, while Julie was making the bed and Clara was messing around on the floor with the upstairs books, Clara took out Noisy Farm, which features a cow on its cover. Julie was rambling on about cows (cows say moo, cows make milk, cows live on farms) when she noticed Clara was pointing repeatedly at the cow on the cover of Noisy Farm!

Today, Ms. Melissa reported that Clara can find the picture of her family in the classroom, and will point to Julie's picture and say, "Mama." Ms. Melissa also reported that yesterday, Clara signed "Please, milk," when she was out of milk, and that later, she signed please from her crib as in "Please, I would like to get out of this cage." Melissa shook her head no and smiled, and today, apparently, Clara was found shaking her head whenever one of her wee compatriots was told no for one reason or another.

The appearance of the sign for please has put Julie in mind of when Joe would use the sign for everything he wanted with a frantic desperation. Even after he began speaking it would appear from time to time as he was trying to use his words to explain what he was after.
