Birdie Stands On Her Own Two Feet

Clara is pulling to a stand, cruising, and walking with support with increasing confidence. Her favorite thing to push about is Dumpy the Dump Truck, back for a return appearance. Birdie is so confident in fact that she stood without holding on to anything for several second this weekend! She probably didn't realize it of course, but she did it! On Memorial Day, she was walking down the front walkway and back up after an assist with the turn before the steps (and to keep from veering into the grass; Dumpy's a lot of truck to steer) over and over. We were all cheering her on and when Clara hears a "Yea!" and clapping, she breaks out her own clapping hands. And so she let go of Dumpy and clapped which is how our Bird stood on her very own for the first time. (She did it again tonight. When we got home, she made the sign for book when she saw the books on the table in the porch so Julie set her down on her feet next to them. She picked one up and stood there with it for a second or two. No hands again!)
