Applesauce

Clara Jane had applesauce at lunch today. Dining with the bambini can be a fraught affair as one tries to keep Berenice back from the table, make sure catsup isn't eaten with one's finger, keeps the cups upright, tries to keep Berenice back from the table, honors requests for more of an item, prompts the delivery of such requests in a strong voice with strong words, signs to Clara, tries to keep Berenice back from the table, and, oh yes, eat. So it was that Julie was spooning the applesauce into Birdie's mouth when she paused, and distractedly let the spoon hover in midair, when she turned to find the Bird had taken matters into her own hands. "Yes," she seemed to say, "I will just drink my applesauce on up. I like to do it MY-SELF anyway!" Worked out great--as you can see in the second picture.
