Birdie's First Fit

We have been meaning to report that we are fairly certain Clara had her first official tantrum this past week as well. It was in the always thrilling weekday, pre-dinner minutes, and Clara was busying herself ferrying the bambini dinnerware from the drawer under the microwave to her place at the table. By the time dinner was ready, she had a good amount of the drawer's contents on the table. She was very, very busy. Ted took her off to wash her hands and Julie began ferrying everything back to the drawer. She was just almost out of the dining room with the last load when Clara padded back from the bathroom and saw her. Birdie wailed, and pitched herself down to the floor. Julie picked her up and strapped her into her high chair, where she wept and wailed for less than a minute more before tucking into her dinner.

Having survived yesterday, Clara's display, in retrospect, seems amusingly charming. One almost feels sorry for her, she has such a long way to go. One almost wants to say, "Oh, Birdie. You have to crank that all up if you want to get anywhere with it." Maybe Doh will school her.
