After we had stamped and beeped until Joe decided he could stamp and beep no more, we hauled out the Play Doh Grandma Connie and Grandpa Charles gave Joe for Christmas. [Sidebar: Grandma Connie was so surprised this was such a hit! She does not remember Julie having Play Doh. Julie did. She played with it outside, on the deck. See previous post.] To lead off, Julie selected blue and then Joe selected the shade of blue with which she was to play; Joe selected orange. Other colors that were eventually dragged out: black, purple, and pink. Yellow was flatly disallowed for reasons that remain known only to Joe. We explored some of the tools that came with this rainbow of Play Doh. There is a plunger-type tool that makes a mean snake. Julie made a lot of snakes; Joe cut them up with his knife (from the grocery cart; cross-functional toy).
After Play Doh Hour (and it really was an hour), it was time for lunch. So we made some mac 'n' cheese as this is what Julie always ate when she was sick when she was little, and rolled on into stories and nap. Our Hero was, by this time, pretty tired. Play Doh Hour may have been marked by some lap sitting and resting.
Fans, we are unable to report a single tantrum or nervous breakdown of any sort! Julie is pretty proud of the decidedly and demonstrable, phenomenal success of the Fun Parade.
