Fans, Julie was just about to try to squeeze a shower in between putting Clara down and the beginning of Joe's bath, but then Joe just announced his intention to use the potty and told Julie, "Leave me alone," as he made to take off his pants. And so she has retreated!
In other news, we can report that Joe is smitten with the application of pepper and salt (both table and kosher). It all began when Ted put some pepper on his "mac 'n' cheese" (which has a particular cadence when Joe says it--he gives it a zoom-y sort of flair). Well, Mr. Monkey-See-Monkey-Do saw that and it was all over but the clamoring for the pepper, and then the salt. Tonight, he requested pepper on his pineapple. Everything, it seems, could do with a dash of pepper, and salt!
Clara, for her part, has recently been introduced to black beans, and tonight, sampled Trader Joe's 5-Layer Fiesta Dip that Julie was having as a snack while she fed Clara and waited with Joe on his fish sticks. Who doesn't love the 5-Layer Fiesta Dip? Bird was no exception. She shoveled that dollop right in.
While we were enjoying the 5-Layer Dip, Joe asked if it was meatloaf, as it is packaged up a bit like a smaller version of the meatloaf we had at Elise's house the weekend before last. We told him it was not meatloaf, but noted that the meatloaf we'd had at Elise's was good, "Wasn't it?" Joe informed us that he did not like it ("It wasn't tasty!") but that he had to drink his milk. He's in for a rude surprise next week as Julie plans to include it on the menu, and Fans, rest assured, Elise's mom makes a mean meatloaf. Maybe we'll put some pepper on it and Our Hero will like it better? (We hasten to point out as well that meatloaf tastes better when you've actually tried it.)
