We're Going on a Bear Hunt!

You may also recall that We're Going on a Bear Hunt is the book of the moment, at least for Joe. One very much gets the sense that Clara is thinking, "AGAIN?!" Joe, on the other hand, has much of it memorized, and will recite it along with the reader. Last night, when Julie reached the penultimate page that reads, "We're not going on a bear hunt again," Joe pointed to it and said, "That says, 'We're not going on a bear hunt again.'" Then, he found the words "bear" and "going" from their first letters lickity split! (G happens to be the letter of the week in his room.)

You can see some of all this bear hunting fun here, and be sure to check out Little Miss Ain't No Thing! early on rocking a whole sentence! Now, Fans--you will also no doubt note that she calls Julie Daddy. You may also recall that Birdie used to call Julie Mommy. Birdie did. But now, it's Daddy. Is she trying to be funny? Is she confused? (There was a period when Joe would parrot her when Birdie said Julie was Daddy because he thought he was being funny, which may have confused Clara? We don't know. But we're a little confused anyway.)*

You will also Clara's impatience with this, our fifty-second bear hunt, and how she dips in and out for her favorite parts, including going under the covers because we're not going on a bear hunt again. ("Though this has proved not to be the case of course," she is probably thinking.)

We should also mention that Joe got a chipmunk for Christmas whose paw you press before speaking in order to make the chipmunk repeat everything it's just heard back in a chipmunk voice. Chipmunk went on this bear hunt with us.

Readers, you're ready now, to come along on the bear hunt. Let's go!

*Incidentally, Clara does the same thing with her colors. They are all yellow. Does she think yellow is a noun instead of an adjective? Is she trying to be funny? Is she confused? It's hard to say. She has, in the past, nailed purple, and pink (she has no use as of yet, really, for red and blue and your other basics), but now, everything is yellow. It doesn't matter how many times you say it's blue or orange or whatever. Birdie remains unpersuaded. Where's the proof?
