Our Little Grand Master In the Making

Fans, Chess Club was a hit! Despite the fact that Joe noted he did not learn anything new today. (Apparently they covered how the pieces move, and as he said, he already knows how they move.)  Julie had walked to the school to pick him up, so they walked to collect Birdie from the KinderCare as well, and Joe kept up a running monologue about Chess Club the whole way there.  The very first thing he asked a if Julie would always pick him up right after Chess Club and Lego Art Club (which is on Tuesdays), before he would have to go to Kid's Place. The fact that yes, Julie will in fact pick him up right from these clubs, makes Our Hero like them even more than he already does.  Julie's heart twisted a bit because she so wishes she could pick Joe up at the end of the school day. But the hope was that these clubs would break up the after school Kid's Place monotony a bit in a way Our Hero welcomed, even if it meant tossing him into another new, mixed-age environment, and it would seem that they are in fact offering just this respite. Check and mate.
