Today was dentist day for both bambini. Joe loves him a dentist. Why? Because there is a toy bin from which he can choose a toy after he is done with his cleaning, and that is worth the world to him. So it was with great joy, hopping, and chattering that Joe greeted the news that we would go see Dr. Amey today. The twist this year was that it would be Clara Jane's inagural trip to the dentist as well. We secured an early 7:30am appointment, to ensure we hit their peak cooperative time. Joe and Clara Jane had adjoining chairs and a hygenist for each of them! Joe got right down to business, donning his shades, opening wide and letting the hygenist do her thing without any fuss. Clara Jane took a little convincing as you might suspect, but they eventually got her to crack her mouth open enough to brush some teeth. Good news is they both got rave reviews from Dr. Amey - great spacing, no cavities or softness, and good gums! But what about the toy you ask? Well. First Joe picked out a kite and we talked all about flying a kite at the park with the hygenist until Joe abruptly announced the kite wasn't very fun and returned it to the toy bin and picked out a "water snake" which is a fun toy for bath because it is slippery. Clara Jane was quick to copy Joe and picked out an identical purple water snake for herself. The kids were fabulous listeners and so well behaved. Their handlers couldn't be more proud. They were so proud that they decreed today would be a cupcake day! (Julie later amended this decree so it was not connected to their behavior at the dentist to ensure they didn't think they would get a cupcake every time they behaved well...we wouldn't want that!)

Lynn and Grandpa Tom also had their teeth cleaned today! We did not get to visit to the toy box, but went out for Thai food instead. TJE
