The cupboard was bare when we woke up this morning, so we decided to try a restaurant near the KinderCare about which we have always been curious: Pannekoeken Huis. It's not pancakes spelled fancy, Fans. It's pancakes done fancy. It's pannekoekens (pan-e-co-ken). The Pannekoeken Huis is open daily at 7am, and today, we were the first to walk through their doors. We all got pannekoekens; with blueberries for the bambini and baked apples for us. It was fun (and it is super fun to say pannekoeken--try it!), but we probably won't be going back because bambini pannekoeken and non-bambini pannekoeken are the same price, making breakfast for four at a fancy-pants Denny's nearly $50. We Ekkers are a frugal lot, and we make a mean pancakke* at home.*Get it?
